The Benchmade Fishcrafter 5-inch model is a compact fixed-blade fillet knife developed for anglers who want greater control while processing smaller fish or completing detailed work on a larger catch. Its flexible 5.97-inch trailing-point blade provides the reach needed for smooth slicing while remaining maneuverable around ribs, pin bones, skin and other areas where a longer fillet knife can be difficult to control. The blade is made from CPM MagnaCut stainless steel hardened to 60-62 HRC, giving this water-oriented knife a practical combination of corrosion resistance, durability and edge retention. A stonewashed finish helps maintain a subdued working appearance, while Benchmade SelectEdge geometry creates a fine plain edge suited to clean, controlled cuts. The thin 0.09-inch blade profile contributes to the flexibility required for following the contours of a fish during filleting and trimming. A textured Depth Blue Santoprene handle provides a secure gripping surface for demanding cleaning-station conditions. The handle incorporates a finger guard and jimping near the blade to improve control during forward pressure, and its full-tang construction supports dependable fixed-blade performance. At 10.87 inches overall and only 2.58 ounces, this Fishcrafter is easy to maneuver without adding unnecessary bulk to a tackle bag, boat kit or fish-processing setup. A Sonar Gray injection-molded sheath is included for protected storage and transport. The fitted sheath uses friction retention around the handle and includes mounting slots that can accommodate belts, webbing or hook-and-loop straps. A port at the tip allows trapped moisture to drain after use.
