Buck 662 Alpha Scout Backcountry Fixed Blade Hunting Knife

The Buck 662 Alpha Scout Backcountry is a compact fixed blade hunting knife designed for controlled cutting tasks in the field without adding unnecessary bulk to a pack or belt. Its 2.875-inch drop-point blade provides a practical shape for detailed work when processing small game, working around joints, or making careful cuts on larger animals. Buck uses 420HC stainless steel for this Backcountry configuration, giving hunters a blade that balances corrosion resistance, dependable cutting performance, and straightforward field maintenance. The hollow grind supports efficient slicing, while jimping along the spine creates a defined contact area for the thumb when extra control is needed. A Cerakote finish covers the blade for an additional protective exterior treatment suited to regular outdoor use. The handle combines glass-filled nylon with VersaFlex rubber to provide a durable structure and a textured gripping surface. This construction is especially useful during extended field work, when secure handling and precise blade placement matter more than excess size. At 6.50 inches overall and 2.90 ounces, the Alpha Scout Backcountry is sized to remain easy to carry while still providing a functional handle and capable cutting edge. The included black Kydex sheath protects the blade during transport and incorporates a belt attachment for convenient carry and quick access. Made in the USA, the knife reflects Buck’s established approach to purpose-built hunting tools, while the imported sheath supplies a modern, low-maintenance carrying system. This exact Alpha Scout Backcountry configuration is a useful choice for hunters seeking a lightweight primary knife for detailed processing or a compact companion blade that can ride alongside larger game-processing equipment. Its straightforward fixed-blade design also makes it suitable for general outdoor cutting chores where a small, controllable knife is preferred.
