The AREA 419 Remington 700 Short Action Improved Scope Rail is a one-piece optics base built for securely mounting Picatinny-compatible scope rings and mounts. This exact version combines a 20 MOA inclination with AREA 419’s Full Slotted configuration, providing a continuous MIL-STD-1913 mounting interface that also works with mounts featuring a centrally positioned recoil lug. The rail is intended for Remington 700 short-action receivers and is machined from 7075 aluminum, balancing rigidity with a manageable installed weight. A Type III hardcoat black anodized finish protects the aluminum and gives the base a subdued appearance that coordinates with most rifle and optic finishes. The underside is surface-machined to follow the Remington action profile, while an integral recoil lug bears against the front receiver ring to help keep the base from shifting under recoil. AREA 419 rounds and chamfers exposed edges, including the areas between the Picatinny slots, to reduce sharp corners and potential snag points. The dedicated ejection-port cut follows the action and leaves room for loading ADL-style rifles from the top. Installation flexibility is another practical advantage: the base accommodates receivers tapped for either #6-48 or #8-40 screws without requiring modification. Four screws of each thread size are supplied, along with the required T10 wrench, allowing the installer to select the hardware that matches the receiver. AREA 419 specifies 15 inch-pounds for the included #6 screws and 20 inch-pounds for the included #8 screws. With its 20 MOA angle, full-length slot pattern, precise receiver interface and included mounting hardware, this rail is a purpose-built foundation for installing an optic on a compatible Remington 700 short-action rifle.
