Helle Hellefisk Fixed Blade Fishing Knife 4.84-Inch Cork Handle

The Helle Hellefisk is a lightweight fixed-blade fishing knife created for anglers, paddlers and campers who need a practical cutting tool around the water. Designed by Tor Indergaard in 1992 and made in Norway, it combines a slim Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade with a distinctive cork handle. The 4.84-inch blade is only 1.3 mm thick, giving it an efficient profile for cleaning fish, preparing bait, slicing food and handling routine camp-kitchen work. Unlike a highly flexible fillet knife, the Hellefisk blade is comparatively stiff, providing a steady feel for controlled cuts and general outdoor food preparation. Its barrel-shaped cork handle keeps the knife exceptionally light and provides enough buoyancy for the knife to float if it is accidentally dropped overboard. That characteristic makes the Hellefisk especially useful when working from a boat, dock, canoe or shoreline, where a conventional knife can quickly disappear beneath the surface. The handle uses stick-tang construction and measures approximately 5.12 inches, bringing the knife to an overall length of about 9.96 inches. At only 2.25 ounces without its sheath, it adds very little weight to a tackle box, fishing pack or camp cooking kit. A traditional genuine leather sheath is included for covered storage and field carry. The sheath uses a suspension thong rather than a rigid clip, complementing the knife’s straightforward Scandinavian configuration. Together, the knife and sheath weigh approximately 3.67 ounces. The Hellefisk is purpose-built for slicing and fishing chores rather than heavy chopping, prying or striking. Its combination of stainless blade steel, a buoyant cork handle and compact leather sheath offers anglers a specialized yet versatile tool for cleaning a catch and completing everyday cutting jobs at camp.
